from the beginning to Now
Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Lily received her education at Trinity Lutheran Collage, where her love of the arts was nurtured and grown. With experience in theatre from her youth, she has performed on stage in both school productions and community theatre shows. Upon graduating, she decided to follow the journey into Film, Screen and New Media at the Queensland University of Technology. Throughout her study, she experienced the many different roles needed to create a moving and engaging film, both in non-fiction and narrative. It was in this course that she found her love for all things Production Design. She found it magical how certain design choices could convey character, emotion and theme beyond general dialogue between characters. She hopes to create emotion in audiences in scenes where they don’t quite grasp why they are feeling that way.

Specialising in Production Design, I hope to create sets, props and costumes that help portray and support a story’s progression. I have particularly enjoyed developing visual elements that shape a story’s world-building and an audience’s experience. Through working with creative teams, I aim to create designs that are both attention grabbing and functional in both a fictional and realistic nature.

Having a strong fascination with how story-telling and visual design interact, I try to use attention grabbing colour schemes, set design and costuming to influence the mood and atmosphere of a scene. I have always found it interesting how set design isn’t considered by the average viewer, a major part of a production, but without it as the foundation, storytellers wouldn’t be able to perform at their highest level.

I am deeply passionate about the importance of Production Design in both film an theatre. Through effective use, stories can be given more life than just actors in front of a camera. Through development with sets, props and costume design, I am continuously refining my creative style. I particularly hope to create immersive environments that enhance both narrative and audience experiences.
